Striper fishing is an awesome way to explore beautiful Lake Ouachita and experience the thrill of reeling in a big catch! Ross’ preferred method for striper fishing is trolling. Trolling is a method of fishing that one or more lines are baited and pulled behind a moving boat. The picture below shows the silhouette of a trolling pole secured to the boat using a down rigger. The down rigger has a lead weight that pulls the line down to depths that you wouldn’t be able to maintain on a moving boat. The big striper like to hang out down in those cooler, deeper waters, so this is why trolling is great for catching the big ‘uns.
Ross fishes out of a 2009 center console Ranger 2310 Bay boat with a 250 hp Yamaha and Lowrance GPS and graphing system. It has a pretty good stereo too.
